I have a backcountry trip planned for july 28th. Just cant wait for the B-4 nor cal opener. Gear is packed except the bow. Gotta keep the skills sharp.
I have always wanted to do a pack in to B4 but have never worked it out. Something about killing a buck with the beach as a back drop sounds amazing. Good luck, love to see some pictures of that country!
Thats exactly my plan. I want a pacific coast buck on the beach. Been scouting several bucks for the last couple of months and I have narrowed down the spot and times the bucks are there. I just hope it all comes together. We will just have to wait and see.
Man that is awesome!! do you have cams out there? I always wanted to pack in there but its a long drive from my house especially when I can hunt A zone real close to my house. I have been told it gets crowded with back packers and hikers on the weekends. What is your experience with that?
my honest experience is that hikers and packers who dont hunt make the bucks out there less skitish and a hunter is able to get alot closer. there is minimal pressure and its extremely steep and beach walking is like taking two steps back to one step foward so it takes a serious hunter to go there. To most it feels like a losing game. I was going to set a cam but i forgot it on my scouting trip two weeks ago. Yeah I beat myself up for that one. I did see some good antlers and one fork that made me drool. He was pushing 25" wide and 15-20 tall with 4 inch eye guards. Not sure about you all but that buck would be a big kick off my bucket list. 4x4's are common but huge forks like that are rear. he is who Im after. We will just have to see.
you are making B4 sound pretty dang sweet! tough country and awesome scenery sounds like a great place to carry a bow! love to see some pictures, hopefully holding that forky...
Zack Walton and his brother both tagged out on opening day. Check this out!
