well hello everyone, just got a question, how do you guys practice maybe at home? what is best to shoot at at youre house i have about a 25-30 yard range i can get on the side of my house, that i was shooting my recurve at but would a 60lb compound bow go throught 2 haystacks? or could i make something that would suffice without spending 300$ on targets?

well Zakk first off congrats on the bow.  where did you get it at? I personally wouldnt shoot that bow into that hay just plain.  you could stack about 10 layers of cardboard and put it on the hay if you wanted. that will stop it. you just dont want your fletchings to go into the hay. they will rip off, start to get a wave in them or tear.  if you go to bass pro they got some pretty cheap open layer targets for like 40 bucks they do a pretty good job. i prefer Rinehart targets, i have the Rino Block and its amazing. you got six sides to shoot at and the target holds up like no other target.  me and my dad have been shooting our broad heads into it and it works like a champ. its only 129 bucks but i believe its worth it.

I shoot a layered foam target I picked up at Bass Pro. It works great for field points, but broadheads wear it out quickly. When you remove the broadheads from the target it tears small chunks of the foam with it. Eventually causing too much foam to be lost and the target is then junk. I've heard great things about the reinharts and the 18 in 1 has a full replacement warranty for one year.

I'm with holscher_12 on this one. I bought the BP target a while back and pretty much destroyed two of them. I also tried shooting at just the haybales at my range and had to refletch over a dozen arrows. Save yourself the aggravation and get a good quality target that will last a couple years. I now shoot a Morell target and it works great.

Zakk Ol Buddy How do you like this site? Did I tell you this was the best or what. I went to Bass Pro shopss and broke down and bought a quality target. I can shoot on the side of my house and can get about 30 yards or so. I did try Hay bales first and the only good thing that taught me was how to re-fletch some arrows. Trust me buddy, it's not worth the aggravation. Alan, Your Home Depot Brother.
