Normally I'd say it's a cool idea, but if you are out there near a few idiots with rifle scopes you might be the TARGET and not the decoy. It's a cool concept, but I'd be nervous to be dressing as the prey. On a private ranch it might be different.

I saw that, too... I am just unnerved by the thought of some db using his scope to see what he's looking at instead of the binoculars. Don't get me worng, it's a cool concept, I am just a bit on the cautious side.

I completely understand your concerns with other hunters. However, it is against the law to use a "costume" to hunt during rifle seasons in all states. Yes, there is the possibility of poachers during any season of hunting. The use of the SpeedGoat Hat & Shirt is really no different than setting up and hiding behind one of the other decoys that are on the market and some of them are photographic images of an actual antelope. If a poacher can't tell you are human wearing the SpeedGoat Hat or any other Be the Decoy product when he looks through the scope I would be surprised. Anyway, thats my two cents.

Thanks, Mark. I understand what the laws state. Here's why I think more hunters, especially from CA, will think along the same lines as I do. Out here it's illegal to have a 'costume' during rifle as well. That still doesn't stop the poachers and idiot hunters from trekking into archery only areas during archery and popping off deer and bear. Out here way too many rifle hunters think carrying a spotting scope or binoculars is too much weight. They continually use their rifle scopes to 'spot their animal.' It only takes one guy doing that to accidentally pull the trigger. Granted, your concept is for antelope and for that I appreciate it. Using that instead of a decoy is a fantastic way to do it. Especially on private land.

I think it will work very well for antelope and I am very interested in seeing some testimonials after people have had the opportunity to use it. Who knows, I might change my mind in a few years.

Good luck!
Al

I really want to try this on mule deer. I think it could fool them.

I'm with ya. I don't know anything about hunting CA. With all hunting there are risks that we all sign off on. Poachers are one of them whether we're decoying or sitting by a tree with Elk, Deer or Antelope within bow range. Your concerns are well noted.

During Antelope season a week before the general opener I spotted a 175 class Muley and was able to stalk him to 40 yards, draw my bow and hold the pin on his shoulder for 3 minutes before he bolted. If only the season was open! Very effective on both Antelelope and Muleys as they live in the same country and are used to seeing eachother daily.

All I can say to the having someone shooting you with a rifle is....if you see a guy taking too long looking at you or something else while you are stalking...get out of sight...take of the hat...then go yell at him for ruining your hunt!  We have heard this before...not a new idea to us!  Thanks for checking it out though!

I heard of some guys here in Chino Valley AZ this last archery season that were hunting antelope with something similar or maybe even the same outfit.

We got the prototype late in the season lastyear...not ours..we are the only one out with one like this...there are homemade ones out there like it.  We had a 70 year old guy come by the booth saying he had done the samething 25 years ago..he cam back about 2 hours later with the picture of him and his goat..with the hat on...it was funny!  Wish you guys the best of luck if you decide to try it!  You won't be disappointed!

I would not be worried at all to wear this out in the field during antelope season.  Should be interesting.  I may just give it a try this year.
