Been out for a while
Wed, 03/16/2011 - 15:59
Sorry it's been a while since I have been able to get on the site much. I had shoulder surgery in February and 2 days later my grandfather passed away. Made for a LONG road trip to Texas. All bandaged up and on oxycodone. The doc couldn't do what he needed to get done, so now he is going to replace the joint. That's going to be fun! So early archery will definately be out for me and if he does the surgery in April, it will still be cutting it close for elk season if I get drawn. Maybe even December archery. I have a buddy that's just dying to rig my bow up with a mouth tab. I would rather not, but I will if I have to. I refuse to sit a season out if I have an option of any kind! |

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, Crounsbd. My condolences to you and your family. Sorry to hear about your shoulder, too. Damn, that hurts just thinking about it. Props for pushing ahead to get in at least one season. I'll be praying for you and hoping for a fast recovery!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. And the surgery is going to suck. The first one was bad enough, but with this one they are going to cut off the ball at the end of the arm bone and screw in a plastic one. Geez louise, I may end up spear chukin with the left hand come archery season.
The part about my grandfather that really sucks is that he was like us. From the time I can first remember he has run rampant always hunting and fishing all over the country and Mexico and it even almost cost him his marriage more than once. I guess he spent his entire life like that and had one hell of a trophy room to prove it!. Well, the last 10 years (he was 85) he has been stove up and half blind and could only sit at home until his dialysis appt. It was killing him! I don't know about you guys, but NOT being able to hunt or fish in any way at all or even just go to the woods scares the hell out of me. I wouldn't wish that on anyone! Like a wild animal in a cage.

Sorry about your grandfather and your shoulder! Hope your surgery is a success and you will be pulling your bow back in no time.
