I am looking to go deer hunting with a recurve and was wondering what would be a good draw weight to use for deer.

I shoot my recurve at 55lb and it is plenty!

With the right shot placement and a good sharp broadhead #40 will get the job done. Most the people I shoot with are in the mid to high #40's range. My friend got a complete pass through on an elk with a #42 longbow with no problems but its when you dont make that perfect shot that the extra weight comes in Handy but you can compinsate for the lower poundage with heavier arrows and get similar kinetic energy down range.
