Alright!! first to post on the coues forum. This was a great hunt for the both of us!!!! my dad got drawn for the early 27 coues hunt and I was lucky enogh to be there when all the good happened.

Day one thru three we had seen plenty of deer none just worth going after. day four i had glassed up a great buck and when dad got over there to take the shot he dropped down in a canyon so we hurried acroos the ridge hoping to a sot off, well luck wasnt on our side. Days five and six i couldnt be there do to work. so the last day, day seven, we were setup on a little knoll glassing across a canyon, when my dad goes "theres a buck at the water" we had a perfect view of the little dirt tank and hadnt even seen the little ghost show up. Dad grabs his gun and im trying to get the range finder but before i can BOOM...THWACK!!! He was hit and he walked over the little dike!!!!! so we give each other hi fives jump up and down figuring he was dead just on the other side. we walk over there and theres nothing, our hearts dropped, i knew he had hit him the noise you hear after the shot is well ditinguished, we start circling around and i find blood, "dad i got blood" he gets over to where i am and the blood is right at the begginning of a trail, so we follow and follow and follow, we had probably gone 500 yards already and he is still losing blood and alot of it. Well we go probably another 100 yards and run out of blood, so we start zig zagging in opposite directions and i see leaves clumped together under a little juniper, sure enuff h had been there. then all of a sudden probably 20 yards from he busts from another bed and drops down into a little valley and beds in the wide open for us, "DAD", i yelled he came running over there and he doesnt do that often, he gets over to where i was and i point to him, "he is till alive", i tell him, and wouldnt you know it right when i said that deer jumps off and takes off again and stops and beds probably 200 yards away not giving us a clear shot. So we wonder over there and the buck jumps up and trys going up hill and he couldnt make it, beds down in the wide open and dad finally gets another bullet in him, and the hunt is finally over. when we get to the deer we see where the first shot hit and it was a little low, but if we wouldnt have chased him he wouldve been dead in the his first bed that we found. BOY these little deer are TUFF.

This was my favorite hunt ever and it wasn't even my kill. Just being with my dad and finally being rewarded with his trophy.

Thanks, for readin my long post. Good luck to everyone on you hunts this year.
