It took five sets this morning but I managed to smoke this fox. I set up on a drainage with heavy cover on top with pockets of open ground. A couple of minutes into the calling this fox stepped out onto a deadfall across the drainage. She stopped with some branches blocking and shots so I did some lip kissing and she stepped farther over to her right. Clearshot and down she went. Beautiful animals but the amount of fleas is incredible.

I have an old hand held Sceery rabbit in distress and Foxpro lil woodsman. Cant afford an E caller right now but I have gone out 4 times over the last 2 months and have had fox come in 3 of those days and 2 coyotes the other.

§461. Badger and Gray Fox.

  • (a) Badger may be taken as follows:
    • (1) Season and Area: November 16 through the last day of February, statewide.
    • (2) Bag and Possession Limit: No limit.
  • (b) Gray fox may be taken as follows:
    • (1) Season and Area: November 24 through the last day of February, statewide.
    • (2) Bag and Possession Limit: No limit.
    • (3) Dogs may be permitted to pursue gray fox in the course of breaking, training, or practicing dogs in accordance with the provisions of Section 265 of these regulations.

Thaks Forrest. I know finding info on hunting fox in the F&G rules is not easy but I did make sure before heading out. In case you have never caped out a fox or coyote before, Predator nation showes how to do it.
