Hey guys!

I am going to be heading down to Los Padres National Forest this weekend and I am having trouble deciding which tags to get. I'm deciding between a deer or a hog tag.... I can't get them both... What do you guys think? Btw, Anybody been out to Los Padres? What have you seen?

Thanks Guys!

Welcome, Caviel. LPNF has some great opportunities. If I were you I would get a deer tag before a pig tag. One of my buddies has been up there recently and seen more deer than pigs. Just a thought. Others might have more current info. Where are you looking to go in the LPNF?

Thanks for responding! I was looking to go to the Monterey (Northern) area like around the Aroyo Seco or some of the areas bordering FHL....

I don't know much about that area, but I'll ask around.

Caviel, havent been out that way in probably 15 years or so but when I wan in the Army I lived in those woods.  Don't have any current info, but at one time the area between FHL and Camp Roberts had more pigs than you could shake a stick at!!  Also, just a hair east of Paso Robles is a road that goes north back up to Monterey County to Hog Mountain.  There was some BLM land up there and TONS of pigs.  They were coming out of the hills at night and rooting up farmer's fields at night.  The fields are still around so I don't imagine the pigs have gone anywhere.  I'm sure the guys here can give you some up to date info.
