I just wanted to give everybody a heads up if you plan on using either Bull Heads or Guilletin broadheads if you shoot a H.I.T arrow shaft .

When you get your arrows built be sure to get the O-ring with the bar insert for the shaft . The archery shop that I generally use didnt put them in and I didnt know better so when the first gobbler came in to 16 yds I settled my pin on his waddles and released . My shot was a little low but made a good center hit and feathers flew , the bird flew about 15 yds and walked off !!! I went and picked up my arrow and the tip of the shaft had exploded ?? I went back and reviewed the footage and sure enough I had made a good hit . Thinking maybe it was just a bad arrow shaft I tried it again on a second gobbler later that day . Almost the same scenerio ...I make a good hit at 22 yds and the tip of the shaft exploded AGAIN and this gobbler walks away ! So the first thing I do is call the archery shop when I get back to the truck and want to chew some ass out and they ask me if I had bought the inserts for it and of course I said "what inserts " he then explained to me what happen and that it was MY responsibilty to ask for them and install them .

So I hope this gives you guys a heads up if you ever want to try those broadheads and your archery guy isnt as informative as mine was !

I have considered going back to my Axis. The gold tips don't seem to penetrate as well as the Axis did. But on the flipside, the inserts in the GT allows me to shoot multiple deer (or other hard objects) without the damage on the end of the shaft. I never had any explode like you're describing, but every harvest yielded another split arrow. Almost like they were brittle.

Pretty sure you have not used the new Kinetics...they weigh as much as an Axis and you can adjust you front of center with the new insert/outsert too.  I have shot over 50 animals with the 7595 Hunter xts and never had one blow up...7,000-10,000 shots a year and not a failure...bad luck I guesss.  The Kinetic is a new small diameter arrow from GT for this year.  Axis style, but unlike the H.I.T system...you can shoot exspandables and replaceable fixed blades heads with out shoving blades into the shaft..That is why I stopped shooting Eastons...the H.I.T system with High KE set ups ruined too many arrows on me.

So youre saying the GT insert system saves us from the shaft damage that we experience with the eastons?

I just texted the owner of my local shop and he doesnt stock the kinetix. What is the best way to get some? This is a huge issue in our area regarding the Axis vs GT hunting arrow debate. I may be selling a lot of kinetix!

Tim Gillingham is the guy to contact at Gold Tip!  Just e-mail the address on the site and ask that it be forwarded to Tim.  If that does not work let me know.
