My first Coues buck
Mon, 09/13/2010 - 00:39
Well im new to the forums so i figured i would post my buck from last year, being that i was greedy this year and passed on way to many bucks.. He is not the biggest buck on the mountain but he is my first coues with a bow and im mighty proud. I had hunted a remote waterhole for about 3 days, sitting from dawn til dusk every day, being fairly greedy passing on some small muleys and a spike coues. I had to come back to work for a few days and decided to go back out and sit the waterhole mid week. at about 8 two does came in and watered at 35 yards, their tiny little bodies twitching with every sound. they left and i was just thinking of laying down for a few minutes when this buck came in. He came in to 21 yards and stopped quarting to me, i drew back held on his shoulder and squeezed the release. on the shot the buck dropped to the ground and jumped back up running up the creek. i waited 10 minutes and walked out to take a look at the arrow and it was soaked and had a chunk of bone wedged over one of my blades on the broadhead. After a quick tracking job i found my prize. I had blown through his shoulder passed all the way through and hit his opposite femur breaking it. |
