I know a lot of people won't give up there spots, and rightly so. That's a popular question people ask. I recommend looking for trails, public access and verifying that it's lawful to hunt each of those areas.
As far as shooting around the residences, check out the local ordinances and municipal codes. For most areas it is no closer than 150 yards from any residence, but many LEOs don't even know that or many of the hunting regulations, so be prepared! I highly recommend staying at least 200 yards away so you don't have to worry.

YA I had a run in with the local leos in sandimas canyon you better be on the other side of the canyon road , or they will try to charge you with everything from trespassing to carrying a loaded weapon within city limits .. its crazy up there .. I would suggest staying away form there and the experimental forest areas , try the front side of Potatoe Mt in the canyons , also offf of Glendora ridge road ,, and make sure that you dont go anywhere near Crystal lake they with bury you under the jail. Good luck you and about 1000 other bow hunters will all be crammed into the same area .. there are some spots above Azusa canyon but you gotta hike way back in, but have seen some decent bucks in there in the mid 120's that like to bed down on the north side of the hills, a good spotting scope is the key.
