Needing More DIY Staff???

Okay of course who wouldn't want a set of new gear, shirts, hats, and coozies!??? Almost anyone! But who is really interested in keeping up with posting on the forums? This guy right here!!! Are there any opportunities for "newbies" to have an opportunity to join the staff and contribute to the forums? I'll offer a background on myself real quick. I am a 33 year old former Marine, married with a total of 6 kids! I work full time, go to school full time and hunt in the "in between" time! I have hunted since I was 11 years old with my father. You name it, squirrel, turkey, deer, phesant, wood chuckers, and dove. I simply love the outdoors and it seems the older I get the more the passion grows!
I had a short stint with bow hunting when I was between the ages of 16-17. It never panned out, I wanted the deer dead and I wanted it fast and easy! So what did I do?? Rifle and muzzleload hunting was my MO. 16 years later a spark was lit and its gonna take years to put it out! My shift wouldn't allow me to hunt as often as I wanted, especially with my father, but I wanted more time in the woods. I started looking into buying a used bow when my uncle offered up his "Whitetail" circa 1984!!?? Well I hooked it up, got some arrows and broadheads and out I went!
On my first outing that was approximately 1 week before gun season in Kentucky I saw a total of 24 deer in one morning and one afternoon hunt. I was able to draw on 3 deer in one afternoon but due to the bows enormous length I hit the top of my box blind I was in once, had the arrow fall off my rest another time, and the 3rd the deer had already been spooked and didnt stick around. Needless to say this very eventful evening has set off a chain of events that has changed my outlook on hunting permanently.
I immediately went out and started looking for a nicer bow. I ended up trading a good friend an AR-15 for an awesome Mathews Monster 6.0 fully loaded! By the time I made the trade I had only 2 weeks left of the hunting season and I think I hunted 6 of those days with no luck. But the simple thought of taking an animal that I respect and love so much with a bow at close range was exhilirating!
Since the season has ended I now have a Mathews Heli-M that is also loaded and have already been shooting. My mother works for Pape's Archery in Louisville, Kentucky and she had put my name in a drawing at this year's ATA show in Columbus. I won the bow and a 3 day paid hunt in Cadiz, Kentucky for this upcoming year.
Needless to say I am counting down the days until bow season opens here in Kentucky. 198 days to be exact!
So if you guys at DIY need another contributor please let me know! I'd love to contribute weekly. I also run a website that is focused on the athletics of the University of Kentucky from a fan's perspective. www.kywildcast.com I have a decent sized following and fan base established and I'm sure I could pull quite a few guys on over to check out the site as well!
