Hello everyone. Im new to the site been doing a lot of reading and decided to join. Im new to hunting and archery all together. Im completely wet behind the ears so bare with me. I just ordered my first bow (hoyt rampage) and will be looking to hunt a31 once I learn how to shoot this thing accurately . So most likely my first hunt will be next season and would like to learn all I can before then. Any advice on gear thats not gonna bankrupt me and how to get started without breaking any california tree hugging laws would be helpful.

Welcome to the board. With gear make sure you get what you want the first time. It is better to wait and spend a little more once than buy something and not like it.
If you are able to get out and scout and just pick up the bare essentials and do your research on regs, you got plenty of time to be able to get ready for the season. Got a little over 2 months to go. Bare essentials would mainly be the camo clothing (you can find inexpensive, dont need top of the line gear right away. check out wal mart and bass pro shops), a good pair of boots and binoculars, hat, maps of ur area and of course the arrows and broadheads. A range finder is nice, but if u practice enough, you can learn distance by sight. its tough, but can be done. You can pick up the clothing for about 40, boots prolly closer to 100 and you already got the most expensive thing...ur bow. arrows are gunna run about 100 for a dozen to start and broadheads are usually 20-30 per 3. Check out the online forums for used gear. Forest Crawler just posted a few things he is looking to get rid of for trade. Message him. Good Luck!
