This has been asked of DFG before. Peacocks are considered domestic animals and not a game species in California. If you believe they are feral in your area, you need to check with local law enforcement and/or animal control to see if they belong to a nearby property owner and whether they have any other concerns. Peacocks or peahens are considered personal property and are not regulated by Department of Fish and Game (DFG). However, safety laws, such as discharging a firearm within 150 yards of any occupied dwelling without the consent of the owner, would still apply for authorized take (Fish and Game Code, section 3004(a)).

Ya I'm cerious how they taste too. I'm gonna contact the the FS & get back to yall
I've eaten them in Hawaii once or twice, my cousin raised them like you'd raise chickens. It's been a few years but from what I remember it was alot like turkey, the white meat, kinda dry and a little stronger. Not bad though, I'd eat it again.
I think Hunt4lyf would eat anything.....just saying....
Haha too funny, I'll try anything once & some things twice lol
True. Put it on a plate, burn it over a campfire, cooked, raw, barking, I'll try anything once. But one thing I've never tried is beached whale although if I remember the story right Eric might be able to enlighten us on that one. Ohhhhh the stories I could tell...
Wait! Beached whale.... I have to hear this story
What story? Wasn't me, I don't know anything about it.
I think it was the movie 7 days and 7 nights with Harrison Ford, he had to make an emergency landing on an island. He kills a peacock cooks it over an open fire and seasons it with the juice from a jar of cherries. They said it was good. Hope that helps.
