I would check out grim reapers web site and watch the videos they have doing side by side comparisons(angle deflection and steel drum tests), if they are right, just like everything else in this industry, rage just has more marketing dollars not necessarily a better product

For elk, no thanks. There are so many good fixed head choices out there. Why risk it. You might get through a shoulder with a good fixed blade, no chance with a big mech like a Rage.
IMO fixed or mechanical an arrow in the shoulder on a big elk is a 50/50 chance anyways at best, they can foil even poorly constructed bullets. Mechs have come a long ways, and will only become more popular as the manufacturers push for more fps. I have been trying out the reapers and comparing them to wac ems and innerlocs and the latter dont penetrate as deep and shed blades in a block, while the reapers stay intact and penetrate further. Rages, in videos I have seen, leave destructive wound channels, giving a marginal hit further back a higher probability of recovery. Really it comes down to what you/your bow shoot the most accurate as always. Really though it comes down to letting a 350 walk and waiting for a 380 plus w/ your tag,

I just took a Utah Mule with a two blade Rage. Even with a less than perfect shot the end result was a 3.5 inch hole on entry, 2 ribs toast, guts falling out the other side, and a liver that was damn near cut in half. I have been shooting Muzzey for about ten years and will not be going back. Even at 60 yards the head shoots great, like a field point and I have destroyed a baseball or two at that range. I would have no problem taking it grocery shopping any time.
Eric, I used them in 2008 here is NY. The performed fine on two whitetails. Unfortunatly I am switching this year. To me they seam a little flimsy, and they will pop open on you if you dont pay attention.
That being said, they will open a hole like you have never seen before.
Would be happy to show pics as soon as I find out how. I keep tring but seem to be putting them everywhere except on the site. Some guy in Poland wants to know why I sent him a photo like that.
My buddy shot his javelina with the 3 blade rage and it did alot of damage. Good broadhead for sure!
