Scouted D-14 over the weekend.
Mon, 07/23/2012 - 18:24
Got out up in the big bear area for some pre-season scouting. Spent all day Friday hitting the fire roads and OHV trails trying to find a good spot to hike in. After a few hours of driving through some thick cover i found a recent burn and a stream that looked promising. Since I have not really hunted up there i wanted to see what i could find. I found few tracks but nothing major. I did find a few spots that i need to put my time in. And i need to check out a few more areas before i pick one to hunt. All in all a great day getting the boots and truck dirty. From what i have read and seen D-14 is going to be really tough to hunt with the poachers, mountain lions, and pot growers. But I'm up for the challenge it should be a great season hitting the hills. Ran in to a hunter and shot the shit for a while, he saw a button buck in the early am. |

Good to hear someone got out. Had to be great just being out there. It'll be a tough hunt up there, but it's still good to scout. You never know what you might find. Could be a bruiser hiding in there.
