I have a buddy who is hooked on those expandables and he has used scotch tape before , I personaly do not like them bucks are so hard to find around here I would hate to miss one due to a malfunctioning broad head . Muzzy all the way
Shoy Muzzy 100's for 21 years. Always worked out well and flew great. As far as blood goes, you can't even imagine what a blood trail looks like from a Rage. Its like a crime scene. Amazing.
Have not used tape, however I have used a piece of string serving or dental floss and tied a very small knot around the center of the broadhead shank when the blades are folded. If you own them you will see exactly what I am talking about. If you keep the knot small then there is virtually no change to arrow flight out to 50 yards(max I shot was 65), and truthfully, you should not be shooting beyond about 45 anyways. Dependent on your skill of course. I contempleted the rubber band, and just never pursued it as I found a just as simple fix.
I agree about the blood trail the rage wounds leave, its rediculous. That 2 inch + hole it leaves is probably a huge factor with that. Hitting vitals is the other. I still use Rage, but switched to G5 Montecs for extra durability and pentrating power for my elk hunt next week. I have them flying great and hopefully will get a chance to see how effective they are!

best of luck on that elk hunt. I think I'd want a fixed cut on contact head for that hunt too. Our season opens in 20 days, I can't wait.
