Took the trip back down the coast with a friend who has never been Archery hunting in his life. Went and got set up on the spot and waited for the hogs to start filtering through... about 45 min after getting set up we here them coming. Aaron jumps and grabs for his knife because they sound like they were right beside us but were really like 20 yds out, I calmed him down and we got ready. this time it was a small group of only 3 hogs I told Aaron not to draw untill he saw me draw. I picked up my bow and drew it back and Aaron follow my lead. I told him that as soon as he has a shot to let it have it and I would pick one off after if I had a clean shot. he released his arrow and WAMM  looked low but was a double lung hit. I waited while the other 2 hogs skitted around trying to figure out wat just happened and then took off into the brush. I could of taken a shot but wasn't 100% sure it was gonna be a fatal hit. so I restrained and let down my bow. Aaron wanted to jump up & go find his hog but I told him no we have to give it time to expire we dont want to push the animal if he is still alive and I have had many situations where the hogs come back. so we waited about 45 min and Aaron couldn't wait anymore so we got up got his arrow and got on the blood trail. We followed a short blood trail and found his hog piled up in a bush. the look on his face was priceless. by the time we got out of there and back to the truck we were exausted but it was all worth it to help a friend get his first hog and his first animal with a bow. congrats Aaron on your first hog. it went 75#

hope you guys enjoy the post

Anyone reading my post that wants to kill a hog..... well you can't kill one from your couch! get out there & scout, find some tracks or signs of hods and set out a camera. figure them out and put one on the ground. if hunting were easy it would be called killing. plus finding the animals is half the fun. If we want to keep our hunting zones from being closed done because of some tree huggers we need to utilize the land we still have. there are "hog" problems in San Diego and the city has hired trappers because hunters are not doing their part to keep these animals in check. get off the couch and do ur part.

Dude! If I get off the couch I might miss an episode of Desperate Housewifes of Orange County.  Please tell me there is another way. Please.

I've been trying to track down the hogs there in Cleveland National Forest, with little success, and while I understand that there are many hogs there, I was wondering where your access point was. It was such a great story, and it seemed as if you had walked up, hunkered down for a time being, and just watched as the hogs came to you... Teach me Sir!

Fire man Luke I've heard rumors for years that there is pigs in your neck of the woods in C-town.
