Hey everyone.  Just stumbled across the site...man have I been missing out.  Seems like a great spot for passionate bow hunters.

I just wanted to share my training journey over the last few months.  I signed up for the pikes peak ascent which is a half marathon with 7k of elevation gain to the top of 14000' pikes peak.  The race is the weekend before Colorado archery opener and has really forced me to push the limits this summer.

I've been getting some great training runs back into my hunting areas which has really allowed me to explore a lot of new country really quickly.  I can put some lightweight compact binos in my camelback and get some quality glassing time in.  Areas that normally take me 3 hours to backpack into I can now check out in quick scouting missions.

Has anyone else out there combined there passion for running and hunting?

Sounds like what I have been doing as well. I run everyday and hit the gym most days as well. Im from california but im stuck in Alabama, Flat land for a summer internship. When im at home i run the hills alomost everyday.  Stadium stairs are about as close to mountains as Im going to get for the next 2 weeks. Nothing like having confidence in your fitness and worrying about other things on your hunt. I am able to explore alot when I throw on my camelbak and my binos and run. sounds like a great half marathon!
