The best areas in SO. Cal. are probably going to be in the San Diego area, there are a lot of birds down there. You could PM SMOKE on here unless he sees this post, and he might be able to help you out he lives down there and knows the area well.
Still lookin. I was just out this morning to an area that has had birds in the past but did not pick up any sign. I was only able to find birds on private land this morning but will continue to look. As soon as I bet more time I will be back out and will let you know. San Diego is full of birds just need to find them off of the private ranches.

Lake Southerland has a turkey roundup in February for a drawing to hunt there. They have a lot of birds around the lake but cannot give more info than that.
fees seem kinda dumb. says its a 100 bucks for 2 hunters, and an additional 29.50 if you get picked to hunt in a boated area. there are 4 zones to hunt, 2 hunters per zone and 12 days long, you have to pay a cover charge of 10bucks to go into a lottery to be picked too, i mean it sounds cool just alot of maybes i guess.
Lake Henshaw / Polmor mnt. & Warner Springs Area in SD. Its a dance about between public & private land, so a map is a must, but the birds a down there. There gets to be a lot of hunting presure, so there real hard to call off private squares where the locals feed them. But a quick drive & hike thru there & you'll see.
If you go around Henshaw, watch were you park and hunt. One of the employees for the water dep is not very friendly.
Ill be at the seminars see you all there
So sorry its taken me so long to get back in the forum. I saw SMOKE's reply. I'm headed to Henshaw in the morning to scout for a 2 days.

Cody, thanks for the heads up... That's where I'm headed in the morning March 18th for 2 days of scouting on the National Forest land just northwest of Lake Henshaw.
SMOKE, thx for the tip on the Water Dept employee. I'll have a free Bible ready for him.
Eric, thx for the update on the seminars. I'll try to get Stephanie, the boys and I up there on the April 2nd or 3rd dates.
