1st I'd like to thank my friend Morgan for taking me to his place, during the archery and general season's. Our season started off with he & I setting a ground blind for him, on a nice little saddle, and a tree stand for me over looking a few game trail's. Both he and I also place trail cam's. With his catching does & fawn's and buck's, a couple of coyote's, a fox, and hog's to boot. I wasn't so lucky to get anything, but his cattle roaming by,lol.
We both hunted hard this season, alot of sitting and also walking. On Tuesday the 15th, we hunted not seeing anything, but he did catch a really nice 2x2, on his trail cam. With the next day being his birthday, he took it off, and well as I. So I get to his house, and we deside a game plan. He goes to his ground blind, and I go to the farthest ridge, on the ranch. At about 7:30, he call's me on my cell, asking if I have seen anything, I answer no, and while talking, he say's hang on a sec. And then qwack over the cell, I here his shot, and then throught the air, like a double shot.,Then he say's buck down.
So I tell him that's great & wtg. I suggest that I'll stick around about 30 to 45 min, to see if anything else show's up.After the 45 minute's, I walk down the ridge to my Tahoe, to go to pick him up. I drive the 300 or so yd's to him, and I  see the nice 2x2, and the perfect placed shoulder shot.
There were knuckle bashing and ^5's, for a great start, for the morning. After we loaded Morgan's buck into the Tahoe, he say's ok let's go get your's.So we drive right back up to the same spot I was earlier. We both get out and start to look down a side hill area, seeing nothing, we walk back over, to the other side, and I notice a doe about 1/2 mile on a ridge. I tell him well there is a doe, way over here. He look's and say's cool, but what about the one right there looking at us.
Mind you this doe was less than 100 yd's from where he shot his buck. And down hill 200 yd's out, there is a doe, with just her head and ear's showing through the tall grass. Morgan say's look around, there could be a buck, and within 10 second's, I say big buck Morgan big buck. I point him out to Morgan, and then I kneel down, to get ready for the shot. While i was getting steady, Morgan say's ok Vic, take your time,he's not g***, Qwack, and down goes the buck, doing a back flip, he didn't even get to finish what he wanted to say.
Then after the shot it was all about knuckle bashe's and ^5's. After the excitemnt, Morgan take's my Tahoe around the the ridge just above the buck, since he know's the ranch. I head down hill and toward's the buck. Morgan get to the buck before me, and it look's like a spork,1x2. As I get to hearing distance for him, he said, I think it's a 1x2. I'm kind of shocked. It sure looked alot bigger, in my bino's and then scope.
What had happened, is when it back flipped, it ended up, on his back, in a brush pile, and it did look like a spork. But after we got closer, and could see his antler's, I could see it was a strange looking 2x3, with a Roman nose. He is an old dude. I then went up to my Tahoe and brought down the winch cable, and winched him out, with Morgan, guiding him. It sure was a great season, but even a greater day, Thank's again to my bud Morgan.
Here is a little video, of the excitement,
