2009 Hoyt Alpha Max 32 and 35

2009 Hoyt Alpha Max 32 and 35
Product Type:
Compound Bow

Right off the bat, Hoyt has completely redesigned this year's premier bow.

The very first thing you will notice when you pick up this bow is its weight, coming in at an amazing 3.9 pounds for the 32" and 4.1 pounds for the 35". This is credited to the newly designed Tec Lite riser and ZT Lock Pocket system. The new riser and pocket system are drastic design changes from last year.

Other changes include the following: the new XTS Limbs, which are only 5/8" wide; and the new XTR Cam & 1/2, which now makes it possible to adjust the draw length from 26"- 30" for the Alpha Max 32" model, and 27"-31" for the Alpha Max 35". Both models come standard with the Pro Fit custom grip to help maintain accuracy with every shot.

Like all Hoyt premium bows, the Alpha Max comes with Fuse strings and a set of Alpha Shox limb dampeners. Pricing on the Alpha Max 32” should be around $899, and $949 for the Alpha Max 35’’.

We were really excited to finally shoot this bow after reading about the complete re-design.

  • Super light weight
  • Pretty smooth draw
  • Quiet
  • Fast (even with a heavier arrow like the FMJ)
  • The hand shock is next to nothing (with a stabilizer)
  • Slightly slower than the Katera by about 9 fps IBO, which most hunters can live with
  • A little pricey compared to other Hoyt bows

The 2009 Alpha Max is a pleasure to shoot and is exactly what can be expected from a Hoyt bow. We are looking forward to see what Hoyt comes up with next.
